   ESTATE

Our home, the St György Mountain is located at the north side of Lake Balaton between Badacsony and Szigliget. The mountain is a volcanic remnant hill so the soil consists mainly of volcanic heritage and the "Pannon" marine deposit. There are significant microclimatic differences in the mountain's main climate. Since the mountain blocks the northern winds its south side is dominated by sub-mediterranean characteristics.

These days the estate is divided into separate areas which lie on the south side at the best positions. The crops are harvested from less than two hectares all together. The other areas are either to be replanted or already went through replantation and are expected to become productive.

Crop lands:
1.2 hectare of Welschriesling, 30-year-old vine-stocks, 3.5 x 1.2 m
0.4 hectare of Cabernet Franc, planted in 2006, 2.35 x 0.6 m (twin vines)
0.4 hectare Sangiovese Grosso, planted in 2006, 2.35 x 0.6 m (twin vines)

Our newest purchase is a 1.3 hectare plantation of pinot gris in a slope beneath Taranyi Cellar.

Replanted, not yet crop lands:
0.5 hectare, Shiraz, planted in 2008
0.5 hectare, Merlot, planted in 2008
